Look Up Festival

Portsmouth, UK

Commissioned as part of Look Up Festival in Portsmouth, this large-scale public mural transforms the space beneath a railway bridge into a vibrant pedestrian experience. Stretching across a long industrial façade, the artwork uses bold geometric forms and a dynamic colour palette to create a sequence of interconnected moments that unfold as people move through the space.

The design responds directly to the bridge's structural rhythm, using each architectural section as part of the overall composition while maintaining a cohesive visual flow across the entire wall. From a distance, the mural reads as one unified artwork, while up close it reveals layered details, contrasting shapes, and subtle transitions in colour.

By reimagining an overlooked route, the mural brings warmth, energy, and a stronger sense of place to the surrounding neighbourhood. The project demonstrates how thoughtfully designed public art can transform everyday infrastructure into memorable landmarks that encourage exploration, improve the pedestrian experience, and strengthen community identity.
